Medical Insurance
All middle school and high school athletic programs require proof of medical insurance prior to registering for any Mapleton athletic teams. As part of this, families must type the name of the insurance company that is currently being used as well as the policy number that is associated with the plan on the online registration. This is a required step to complete the registration process.
If you do not have insurance, you may purchase an insurance plan. Mapleton does not directly sell or offer accident, health, or dental insurance for students. However, the district has selected K&K Insurance, a nationwide insurance company, to offer student insurance programs. To purchase insurance through them, go to their website (www.studentinsurance-kk.com) and find the "Enroll Now" section. Click on the drop down and select "K12 Voluntary," then click the "Go" button. Additional information and applications are available in the athletic department (Skyview Campus, 8990 York St., Thornton, CO 80229).
Paw Pass for Practice Shuttles and Gameday Buses
Any student that requires transportation to and from practices is required to have a Paw Pass in order to ride a bus. If you do not currently have a Paw Pass, you need to contact the Transportation Department to get one created for you. There is no charge for the initial setup and first Paw Pass. If your Paw Pass is lost, there is a $3 replacement charge. To order a replacement pass online, click here to register with MySchoolBucks and setup to receive a new Paw Pass. A practice shuttle bus will be provided to transport any student-athlete not on the Skyview Campus to practice. There will be an additional shuttle bus after practice. This shuttle will pickup at Global/Broadway Campus at 6:00, York at 6:15, and the Skyview Campus at 6:30.
If you have any questions, please contact Pat Weir, Director of Athletics and Activities, weirp@mapleton.us, or 303.853.1248. If you have any questions about Transportation or about getting a Paw Pass, please contact Lola Rangel, rangell@mapleton.us, or 303.853.1095. For information regarding Paw Passes as well as the Transportation Department, click here to visit the Mapleton Transportation webpage.
COVID Testing
COVID testing may be required for Athletes pending a CDPHE mandate. We will inform you if or when that may occur.
Teams
All High Schools students will come together to form one team under the name of Skyview High School for each sport.
Middle School sports either form one team for the district or two team that compete at Global or York. Football and Track & Field form one team under the Mapleton name. Boys Soccer, Girls Volleyball, Boys Basketball, Girls Basketball, and Girls Soccer are split into two different teams. If a student athlete attends GIA, MESA, Monterey, the Performing Arts School, or Trailside, they will compete for Global Black. If a student athlete attends Achieve, Clayton, Explore, Meadow, or York, they will compete for York Silver. If you attend Mapleton Online, please contact the Athletic Department to determine which team you should register for.
